Dear TCMS Parents and Guardians,
As we enter our second semester and the beginning of a new year. I’d like to wish you and your family an amazing 2017. Mr. Dominguez and I, and our excellent staff, have enjoyed working hard with our students. Our goal is to continue to provide excellent instruction and every opportunity for your child to be successful. Most of all we want to ensure that each one of our students is given the skills to be able to attack college and career by being equipped with critical thinking skills, collaboration skills, creativity and the ability to successfully communicate with others. With your help, our team can make great strides in helping your child succeed.
As we end the semester we are looking forward to celebrating with you and our students. We will be holding our first annual mid-year semester awards. If your child is eligible, you should be receiving an invitation for our February awards. We are equally excited about our end of the year Mustang Awards, which is our celebration as our 8th graders move on to high school.
If your child is struggling, please contact the office and meet with your child’s counselor to set up an appropriate meeting so that we can meet as a team to offer help. Additionally, we have many teachers who are teaching English Language Arts and Math Intervention after school. We will be contacting our phase two, eligible students to participate, so please check with your child to see if an invitation was sent home. Some invitations went out in December and more will go out by the end of January. If you don’t receive an invitation, please contact your child’s counselor for more information if you believe your child would benefit from Intervention.
As always, we welcome your input. Please look for meetings for PTA, School Site Council, English Language (ELAC), and Coffee with the Principal. We encourage your participation. We continue to encourage our students to join clubs, participate in Think Together after school program, dance, band, theatre arts, and Leadership.
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know many of you. Terra Cotta is a great place to be. I look forward to our continued relationship. Please don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions.
